C. W. Post, who created Grape-Nuts in 1898, said that the baking process that turned wheat and barley into cereal turned the cereal's starches into "grape sugar" (the "Grape" part) and gave the cereal the "crunchy, nut-like texture" mentioned in this and so many other commercials. Am I correct this commercial aired in an episode of "Mama?" The actors in the vignette at the front and end of the commercial look like the show's main characters! BTW, note the 40% Bran Flakes in the kitchen cabinet!
