Information processing is integrated into everyday objects and activities that information devices (e.g. smartphone) are connected to information system wherever you go. Imaginary examples in the movie were taken from Microsoft's and Cisco's vision on the future. Realistic example of iphone apps can be seen at the end.

  • For tarkonis:

The video here does not mean to demonstrate all applications related to ubiquitous computing. Although there are other videos for the same topic, their quality in explaining the topic visually is comparatively weak. Recently I found a new video "Green Wheel - Smart Mobility & Ubiquitous Computing" that might suits your need. Use the link below (remove all spaces first):

  • For liosot88:

Digital divide is a problem that we are facing. Resources should be invested into new innovation for all walks of lives. However, the fundamental solution is to reduce the number of poor people. Take a look at an inspiring article from Readers' Digest by Simon Hemelryk.

(Sorry that I cannot post the link here since it is blocked by YouTube. Try searching it using keywords "Simon Hemelryk Hole in the Wall Gang".)

  • For corpusc:

The word "Welcome" is meant to show up on her phone. It is not hologram or some kinds of lighting. Such visual effect is merely to show what information can be projected on the screen of the cellphone. For example, we do not expect those text are really floating in the air near both the customer and the worker at 3:13. However, the instant change of all price tags at 2:50 can be interpreted in a more realistic way.

  • this is for the rich people what about the poor?...

  • The ubiquitous future of business and shopping. Typical corporate attitude. Makes me sick. Why not show how ubiquity could be harnessed to complete tasks outside of vocational and monetary related concerns. No, we need to buy more toaster ovens!! Buy Buy Buy Consume Consume Consume. This vision of the future does not take into account the nature of our highly energy intensive, wasteful society and will not come about due to the unsustainability of our culture.

  • all this technology, and the welcome sign can't be at the right orientation for the people who are entering the building (you know, the people that the welcome sign is FOR)?
