I love Shinobi 3. It's one of my favorite games. I wish that Sega would continue making Shinobi games. They stopped at Nightshade.

Yeah, I agree with you about Shinobi 3...this game is made of SO MUCH WIN! :) Aside from the tight, fluid gameplay, unique level designs, and epic boss fights, one thing I absolutely love in this game is the soundtrack. O_O Holy shit, it is just...damn, so memorable! Yuzo Koshiro is an amazing composer, which is why I also enjoyed Actraiser, Streets of Rage, and other titles; his OSTs have such a distinct, nightclub-esque flavor that you could get up and dance. :D

dude you cant compare a shinobi game to super metroid or chrono trigger both different styles a greater comparrison would be with eswat (nice game) or strider (also nice)

I played this game a lot on the Sega Genesis Collection and it's really fun.

Well, actually, I have played and BEAT several of the Mega Man games, and have enjoyed the Castlevania and Ghosts and Goblins games!

Too hard? They were definetely some of the more easier platformers in those days. If you had trouble with Shinobi, I wouldn't recommend you try Megaman, Contra, Ninja Gaiden, Ghosts and Goblins, or Castlevania. If you were to play any of those infinetely harder games you would probably rip your hair out.

Shinobi 3 one of my favorite Shinobi games ever next to Revenge of Shinobi on the Genesis. I wish Sega would continue making more Shinobi games it's a shame that it stopped when Nightshade was released in 2004 on PS2.

A nice change of pace for you Magus. You kinda got swamped in the whole rant format for a while. Good to see you come back to your roots. And a great game to do it with as well. Shinobi 3 was one of my favorite games during the 16 bit era and definitely on Genesis. The expertly crafted game pushed the hardware more than many other titles and the music was absolutely brilliant. This was certainly the best Shinobi ever put out. The only thing that really comes close is Shadow Dancer.

Also ordered the Sonic collection, will definitely play Shinobi 3 first :P

Indeed it was originally an arcade sequel to Shinobi.

Then it got ported to the Master System and Genesis. I played the Genesis version back in the day, and that looks like the version ported...

Well well, just saw that Shadow Dancer got announced on Virtual Console. Interesting, I might pick that one up.

Too bad only Shinobi 3 is present in the Sonic Genesis Colelction on both PS3 and X360.
