In final preparation for New Year's Eve, the iconic Times Square New Year's Eve Ball is lit and sent up the 130-foot pole atop One Times Square.

Jeff Straus, President of Countdown Entertainment, along with Ed Crawford, CEO of Philips Lighting Company, flip the giant switch that initiates the spectacular, state-of-the-art lighting effects, powered by 32,256 Philips Luxeon LEDs and covered in 2,688 Waterford Crystals.
