http://www.blackamericancinema.org

Good News (also known as The Good News) is an American sitcom that aired on UPN from 1997 to 1998. The series is a spin-off of the UPN series Sparks.

The series focused on David Randolph (David Ramsey), a young acting pastor designated to South Central's African American Church of Life. Initially, the majority of the church's members balk at the young pastor's new position and resent him replacing their former pastor. With the help of the church's secretary, Vera Hudson (Rose Jackson Moye), Randolph attempts to reunite the church and help his congregation.

Other cast members included Roz Ryan as Hattie, the church's cook, Tracey Cherelle Jones as the church's youth director, Guy Torry as a choir member and janitor.

The series was canceled in 1998, after 22 episodes.

  • I miss UPN...I hate that they've combined it with the WB and turned the network into the CW...UPN was pretty much the only chance in which black tv shows had a chance at thriving...case and point, how many black starred shows are there now on the 'CW'?...THANK YOU!!!

  • such a good show too bad it didn't last!!

  • Can someone plzzzzzz post SPARKS!

  • @Monbrax that is so true. like i loved upn. i'm more of a action buff. and upn was great for action and black comdies and sci fi shows. it was truly a great network. wb were mostly white dramas and then later upn just souly became black comedy. when they merged to cw, they kept some of the black comedies but in a few years cw went back to what wb was. an all white network

  • i dont remember this and i always watched upn

  • black shows never get a chance...epecially is it shows us in a respectable light

  • OMGGG I USE TO LOVE THIS SHOW, WHAT HAPPEN TO THIS? WOW!!
