Celtics won that series (eastern conference finals 1987) 4 games to 3.

  • I'll NEVER forget that game/play. I remember thinking to myself, 'Bird's gonna do something, he has always does'. Then the steal & the underrated great pass to DJ. . .Keep in mind from '85 on, Bird was playing with a career threatening back injury, he was never 100% healthy. Or even close to 100%. It was never really publicized until the end.

  • It would've been a good play for Isiah, except that Mahorn and Rodman go running the other way, celebrating, while Sichting, and Bird instantly start playing defense. And then the awesome veteran instincts from Bird and DJ who know exactly what the other is thinking. And of course, what's a big-time steal in Boston Garden, without Johnny Most screaming the call, just barely audible over the Boston crowd. Amazing.

  • that was so awesome!

  • @Sensui01 It could of. Every player in the NBA has the ability to make a play like that. But I'm guessing other players would've taken a shot and missed instead of passing it, and it would cost them the game. Larry Bird knew exactly what to do once he got the ball.

its not lucky. its inexperiece on the part of isiah and bird just took advantage of the opportunity. believe me if it was an ordinary player that steal would never have happened

  • Isaiah: "D'oh!"
