Off The Eaten Track - Series1 Ep3 Seg4: South Burnett Wine

The South Burnett region, three hours north west of Brisbane, is home to over a dozen vineyards. Captain's Paddock is located in Kingaroy and is run by the Pidcock family. Amongst the manicured vineyards is a self contained guest cottage and café that serves up local fare. A visit to Captain's Paddock isn't complete without tasting the double pruned shiraz, or 'The Last Syrah'. The labour intensive crop is created by double pruning the vine to produce a wine that is more intense it both colour and flavour.

Not only is the South Burnett home to a group of award winning wineries but it also produces all of the ingredients for an outstanding cheese platter. Taste South Burnett is the retail outlet for Kingaroy Cheese and its shelves are stocked with plenty of other local delicacies, just the thing to sustain you for a day on a wine trail!
