This interview is with my wife's grandpa, Jack Hagen, 75th Infantry, 291st regiment. Here he describes how his best friend, Frederick Farlee, was killed by enemy fire and how he received the bronze star. I apologize for the audio quality, I should have invested in a microphone, I kick myself for not using one.

  • I am sad to report that Jack Hagen passed away this morning at the age of 85. Another WWII veteran lost. He will be missed dearly. Rest in peace.

  • Where is the inteviewer from; I know of a member of the 291st reg. from Minnesota KIA near Grand Halleux in January '45.

  • He is from Britton, SD. He was in the 291st Company D. Let me know his name and I can pass it on, you never know. He remembers quite a few names.

  • Very interesting video. But it's quite hard to hear what he's saying, it's really quiet. :/

  • Sorry about that, I didnt have the greatest equipment as far as a microphone and there was a little bit of background noise.

  • My gramps was in Stalingrad, Wehrmacht Infantrist. When a grenade exploded next to him he lost his leg. He was brought to the medics, they took care about his wound. But through the survere pain he got unconcious and they accidently signed him dead. He awoke on a stack of his fallen comrades, we're they had placed him... He survived...

  • bless his heart. a true hero.
