Patient presented with carious lower right first molar. Discussion was made either to do endodontic treatment and crown lenghthening distally or implant- retained crown. The patient had gone through many confussing information on the internet. The patient was aware of terms such as biological width, bone loss associated to crown lenghening and was not happy to accept that. Decision was made to have periodontal surgery by doing the root submersion technique. (See Myron Nevin's book for reference). A final mplant-retained cemented crown 6 weeks after the implant placement was made. Pre-, Per- and Post-operative pictures and xrays were taken during the whole process.

  • Hi Manu - can you give more details on which Myron Nevins book you refer to? would love to know more about submersion technique. Many thanks! Rob

  • @robendicott pass me your email address rob

  • why do a caries clean out when the tooth is unrestorable without crown lengthening?

  • @kevinbomb

Hi Kevin. I actually do not clean the caries. What I do is the root submersion technique as described in Myron Nevins book. It allows you to get soft tissue for primary closure. Does it make sense? Thanks for commenting. Regards

  • The military messed up my hole mouth. I went in with perfect teeth and for no reason at all they started saying I needed all sorts of work on my teeth. My teeth never hurt, never had cavities and were beautiful, I went in for inspection and they probed around with the needle and hook and then 6 months later, They had me in for another inspection and said I needed fillings. How much for a lower right bicuspid and a lower rear "very last" molar ?? Very impressive and thnx for posting this video.
