The world's last Mountain Gorillas live in the forests of the Virunga Mountains. The gorillas you see here live wild in Virunga National Park in the DRC. They are very much under threat. Their forest habitat is being destroyed at a dizzying rate by people who make a living by producing charcoal. And the gorillas are often caught in poacher's traps, or in one of the many crossfires generated by crime, political intrigue, war and poverty. The only people looking out for the gorillas are men like the one behind this camera. He is a Virunga National Park Ranger; a dedicated member of a paramilitary force the sole purpose of which is to protect the park and the species that live in it. These rangers carry out gruelling foot patrols every day in order to look after the gorillas. Park vets use video footage just like this to remotely monitor the animals' health. To find out more about life on the front line of conservation; to see what you can do to help the rangers, the park and the gorillas; or to arrange to visit them, please go to http://www.gorillacd.org.

  • See these gorillas are fucking right?

  • Such gorgeous animals and so close to us. Thank goodness for the rangers and the MGVP!

  • The silverback looked like he wanted to ask the camera man why not let him screw in peace!

  • If humans wake up to the matrix of their ignorance

  • These poor creatures have the misfortune of sharing space with the world's most ruthless of animals: the human being.

How can the gorilla survive in the Congo? How!?
