This video is a contest entry for http://www.dogtrickacademy.com/ which was for the March 2008 advanced contest. If you have a dog, come join us it is absolutely free at the Dog Trick Academy!
@DogTrickAcademy You are so right. What teaches a dog to beg at the table is feeding them from the table. Even giving a dog human food (hot dogs, cheese) for training doesn't teach them to beg at the table either. It's all in the context. Great job on the trick!
It's just a matter of teaching them that they'll be rewarded for doing certain things. Once they know how happy certain behavior makes you they'll do it more often.
Thank you for the comment but I dont think that you understand the difference between a training session with treats and giving food at the table. They are two very different situations. My dogs have learned that they only receive food during training sessions and during their meal. P.S. Ive been training my dogs like this for years and they dont beg or bother me when I eat. I suggest that you read up on positive training methods which reinforce behaviors through positive reinforcements.

OMG that's amazing! how did you manage to do that?
I have a 5 month old Husky and would love to teach her that.
She knew how to sit at 7 weeks old, so hopefully she shouldn't take too long to catch onto this neat trick!
