did we watch the same movie, i thought the acting was great, the effects were used tastefully, good story, and i thought it was a ground breaking film, i saw it at the moives twice

Your right. This is one of the worst movies of all time. it's so bad it's negative -1. it has to go up one level just to be 0 stars. and another to get 1 star *. I hated this garbage movie. Why was this waist of film nominated for an oscar. Look, Just watch BATTLE STAR GALACTICA on DVD. It may have been a sci fi channel show but it was better than most sci fi movies. I love sci fi movies so if I hate it this much, it's got to really suck.

You're joking right? I could give an answer to everything you said in there. But the worst for me was when you said, "There's an alien race that aren't really that important in the film..." WTF!! Not important!? Without them the film would just be a documentary on Johannesburg. They're kinda important.
