  • Very nice setup, if you cant afford rock, you can always add dead rock and as long as you have some live rock in there it'll eventually be colonized and become live. Also don't rule out taking from the ocean just because you have a mean temperature difference, I take stuff from the southern California coast with anywhere between a 20 to 30 degree F difference and much has survived.

  • @rabidgerbil38 Thanks for ur comment. I have since made my own fake rock and have noticed new growth and worms and stuff living in them, so that problems fixed, they actually look quite good. So what type of stuff has survived the move to ur tank? thats cool to hear.

  • if your in Australia just go to a rock beach and get some rock any rock on your beaches is live rock don't bye it clean it in the ocean put it in a bucket and in your tank , are you kiding me just quarantine it for a week or not dude it's that easy.

  • @danbran67 R u kidding me mate? Australias a pretty big place, and im right down the bottom so i cant just go grab any rock. Infact if i did it would more than likely kill all my Queensland live rock. Tasmania is about 10 degrees c lower in temp too, so not much would survive that. But thanks anyway.

  • Hey Dan,Great work!! Just a note, If the return pipe is the one that has the outlet about half way down in the tank you will have a huge problem if the power goes out!

It will drain the tank down to that level,a quick and easy fix is to drill a small(5mm) hole in the pipe just below the water level this will release the vacume in the pipe and will stop sucking the water. Looking forward to seeing it with fish!!!!

  • @huzzygam1 Thanks champ, There is a hole in the pipe, theres no overflow problems when the powers cut.

  • Love the Vid Bro You talk exact like me i have no money also but im lucky live rock is cheaper in queensland nice anyways

  • @therealspudnic You can also make rock. It is easy to do, very cheap, but it takes a while to cure. I plan on doing it with my 75gal. The plus is you don't have to search for pieces that will "fit". You can make it as 1 big piece and just how you want it. Search on google, or Forums "Homemade saltwater rock".

  • i enjoyed it mate dead moth niceeee lol

  • love the video mate! well done!

i am just trying to set up and build all my own crap so its nice to see it can be done, and well on a budget.

where did you end up getting your live rock from? $30 is a little steep even for australia, my local store in geelong is about $18.

  • Not that bad looking...like ur tank bro keep up the good work

  • where abouts are u in aust? if melbourne i can suggest a aquarium that sells live rock for $10 a kg :)

  • cool vid man u done well

  • I've had luck with oysters and anemones from a local lagoon, as long as you temperature and then drip acclimate them you shouldn't have to much trouble.

  • looking good .. i am hoping of building the same thing

can you please upload a new update ?
