Drum Overhead

Room Size: 12x10x8

Drums: Yamaha Stage Custom Birch Double Bass Set; 12x5 wooden snare, 10x9, 12x11, 13x12, and 16x16 toms. 22x18 and 18x18 bass drums. Heavily muffled because I trigger them when I record them so I try and keep them quite. These mics as overheads pick them up pretty good when they aren't as dead as I have them.

Cymbals: Zildjian New Beat 14" hi hats, Meinl Classics Medium 14" crash, Camber 12" splash, Meinl MCS 18" crash/ride and a Wuhan 16" china.

Mic position: 6 feet up a foot away pointing towards the snare drum in between the 12 and 13" toms.

Wooden Snare:
12x5 Yamaha Wooden Snare
Mic Position: 6 inches from the top head pointed towards the center.

Steel Snare:
14x5 Rodgers Concert Snare
Mic Position: Same as wooden snare

Guitar w/ Distortion

Room Size: 12x10x8
Amp: Crappy FirstAct amp (my guitar players usually leave their amps laying around my house, but sadly that wasn't the case today)
EQ on amp: Bass 6, Mids 0, Treble 10.
Distortion: Boss DS-1
Guitar: Ibanez starter guitar, mahgony body and rosewood neck
Tuning: Dropped D

Mic Position: Close Mic'd 4 inches from speaker

Guitar Clean
Same settings as guitar with distortion except its in Standard tuning, with the neck pickup and the tone knob set to 6.

Hope that helps.

  • Did you use 1 mic? Or more?

  • @aleksander791 its just 1

  • Does this come with a XLR cable?

  • @AVClip That obviously depends on where you buy it from...some places might offer a bundle with a cable, others may not. In my case, it didn't come with one.

  • is good for the voice??

  • @MrSudsteelo Yeah its decent.

  • They're great. You can get these for $20 each at Musician's Friend and they're hot as hell - The cardioid pattern cuts right through the middle, narrow cone. The sensitivity is higher than the SM58, but if you have good vocal skills you want a hotter mic as opposed to the 'user friendly' microphones like the 58 which have a wide cone.

  • If I buy one, does it come with a microphone stand and/or XLR cable??

  • do you think this mic would be good for beatboxing ?

  • Nice mic. I recently purchased one. They seem to be very sturdy and they have a good sound, especially for the low price.

  • i have a question. Can you plug this mic in ps for karaoke and recording? please answer. Tnx

  • @0000song0000 As we're talking, I am using this Podcast Studio. It's very good, I had to purchase a Pop Filter for the Microphone though.

  • @MuseWeezerCool thats brobably coz the amp is shit and the trebel is at 10

  • This video was so helpful, cheers
