We drove by the farm of FEMA trailers in Hope, AR in Jan 2007. Through online research, I originally believed these trailers were never used. However, someone has posted a reply indicating she works on the crews that bring in these trailers and that many of them have been used and refurbished. She seemed sincere. It is my hope that these trailers can be used (effectively) during the next catastrophe. I still find it most disturbing that these trailers seemed underutilized in the wake of Katrina. Hopefully the barriers to their use (flood plain laws and local ordinances are what I read about) have been overcome.

  • I was trying to find this on google maps but didn't locate it... it's on I-30 correct?

  • Yes, it is at roughly exit 30 (I think it was highway 278), about 5 mi north of the exit. As I recall there are "three" Hope exits and I believe it is the middle exit.

I think that many satellite photos are "old" and if they are older than fall 2005 then they would not show the trailers. :-)

  • First of all, i dont know when you filmed this video if it was in the past YEAR these trailers HAVE BEEN USED and REFURBISHED and now they are waiting here to be used again. It's so nice to see "educated" people talking about subjects that they know NOTHING about. Good job!

  • I resent LSUGirlHauler's rude comments. Refute with PROOF that the trailers were used or that they can be used in flood plains next time ...I will gladly change my posting. I did all the research I could find (google... I haven't found one article backing you up). Cowardly attacks not required, simple facts would have sufficed.

  • For those of you who want to see it on Google Earth. I found a site but not sure if it's the same as in this video. Just north of Hope on route 4 is Hope Municipal Airport. It's loaded with them.

  • How sad, they stored them in the birthplace of Former Presiden Bill Clinton, it was all a scam.

  • wow, there are so many fine places to play with nuclear bombs, why did they go to Nevada instead of picking one of these shitholes instead ?

  • It's just off of Interstate 30 in Hope on highyway 278 heading toward Nashville AR. Can't miss it either and it's close to the interstate. Look for the airport signs.

  • Does anyone have an address, or directions for how to get to the FEMA trailers and mobile homes to check them out?

  • No I really wasn't kidding. As for West, he's a bigot, along with a handful of others (black and white) who do everything they can to stir up trouble anytime they get the opportunity. I have no tolerance for bigots, no matter what color they are. We've got enough problems, without having to put up with them.

  • Are you kidding? The people in Kansas are mostly (if not all) white. There is no way FEMA is going to rush in there and help because of the way they dragged their feet in New Orleans. How would it look? It would give Kanye West something else to bitch about.

  • Nothing would prevent it. But, they should be put to good use now, after the devestation in Kansas. Let's see how the gov't handles this one, and hope that those people who need help will get it.
