The four-time All Star promised he would lobby hard to have his team play at least one regular season game in Taiwan. But if not, he said he would be delighted to come back to Taiwan again.
Howard's fan base in Taiwan spans all ages. These two brothers waited four hours in the summer heat just to catch a glimpse of their favorite NBA star.
Hundreds of basketball fans in Taipei went wild as NBA star Dwight Howard showed off some rim-shaking dunks and plenty of charm. The 6"11 center of the Orlando Magic had no problem wowing his Taiwanese fans.
Even Taipei City's Mayor Hau Lung-bin is a big fan. At a press conference on July 26, the mayor presented Howard with Taiwanese treats such as pineapple cakes, which he gobbled up right on the spot.
This is Howard's second trip to Taiwan since his first visit five years ago. He is here this time as an ambassador of the 2010 Junior NBA Challenge, part of an NBA-initiated charity program. An idol to many young aspiring players, Howard's advice to them is to play hard on the court and work hard in school.
