yeah ... Olivia has a boring roll :) Peter and Walter always play with stuff, she only plays with a gun. the season 2 finale changed that a little :P

the characters and storylines are completely different
fringe is a lot more humorous with the characters Walter and Peter.
The flow of each episode ties directly with the main plot whereas x-files had a lot of tangent episodes.
X-files may have paved the way for sci fi doesn't mean every sci-fi show afterward is a copy.
