STAND UP FOR EAST SIDE SCHOOLS
at the AISD board meeting and vote

Despite IDEA's claims that "all their graduates go on to college," studies show that their "success" is overstated: more than a third of students who are enrolled in ninth grade leave the charter school by 11th grade. IDEA schools also have high teacher turnover and not even the one-year contracts offered to other Austin teachers. At the few community forums that have been held since the proposal was announced in early November, speakers against this proposal have overwhelmingly outnumbered its supporters.

If there is no real community input, no contracts for teachers, no equal education for all kids, then there should be no partnership with IDEA!

MARCH (and bus ride*) starts at 4:30 PM at Eastside Memorial HS (1012 Arthur Stiles Rd.)

RALLY at AISD headquarters starts at 6:00 pm (1111 W. 6th St., one block west of Lamar)

Citizens' Communication before board vote starts at 7:00 pm.

On Monday the AISD Board of Trustees will vote on a proposal that includes a plan to bring IDEA Public Schools, a charter school operator based in the Rio Grande Valley, into schools in Austin's East Side.
