55022 starts up both Napier Engines in readiness to carry on working 1Z51 14:30 ROBESTON to CREWE. Whilst everybody decides at last minute to get their souvenir photos, I took a walk around the train to produce some study shots of the coaching stock used, and the EWS Livery Class 66 operated by DB Schenker.

Included in this video are two shots of lorries using the port to show how close we were to the heart of operations.

More videos from this trip coming shortly.

Please also see the uploads by Robmasterman (Wales) & MG06ZT (Lickey Incline area)

Please note the droaning sound you may hear from time to time was a fire engine filling the trains water tanks.

  • why do they need that poxy 66 on it.

  • @vikingsmb Tour was originally intended so the deltic would haul into Fishguard and run around, turns out there was a points failure upon inspection at Fishguard so they ran the Deltic around in Margem Yard and slapped the 66 on the front, to haul into Fishguard then deltic out.

  • @KBRAILVIDEOS Really good quality! What's the format and video file extension?

  • @johnr625 Thanks. Format is just "hd 720" output on iMovie (using hd 1080p hardware), but the file extension is '.mov' I don't have any software capable of doing 1080p. Hope this helps.

  • It's loud and clear without any sparkling sounds, it's got to be one of the best deltic start up sound on youtube.

  • @Wongie2009 Thanks. I was using an external directional mic pointing into the sky to dampen the sound, I knew it would be loud :)

  • Whoever designed for Napier must've been on some good sh1t, because they came up with some truely bizarre engine designs.
