Engendered, New York's Transnational Arts & Human Rights organization presents a dance festival like you've never seen before. The finest creators of classical, contemporary, folk, and modern dance from India, Pakistan, UK, Canada, and America share the same stage for an exhilarating night exploring gender and sexuality through performance.
From the classical world the renowned Nrityagram Dance Ensemble, Jasmine Simhalan, Nighat Chaodhry, Kalanidhi Dance, Tehreema Mitha, and Sumbhav. Acclaimed contemporary choreographers Mandeep Raikhy from Gati Dance, Phil Sangers, Kamala Devam from the Shobana Jeysingh Dance Company & Seeta Patel of the Mavin Khoo Company.
Just off their appearance at the winter Olympics the all women's UBC Bhangra Girlz and Bollywoods notorious hiphop choreographers Flexy Studios. Trainers to Hrithik Roshan, who just worked on Kites and A. R. Rahmans new film.
It's all kicking off April 24 at Manhattan's Symphony Space.
