Sydney Andrews (Laura Leighton) left the original 'Melrose Place' at the end of the 1996-1997 season by way of death. This was her last scene on the show and it was said in the season premiere of the show's sixth season, without actually seeing her, that Syd had died. This was the perfect way for Sydney to go out - she had spent years being misunderstood and searching for love, and when she finally found it with Craig (who later blew his brains out)... ka-pow, she's done. Poetic ending for one of the greatest TV characters ever!

This was so horrific. Just when it seemed Syd finally had a chance to put her past to rest, she gets killed instead. That's the nature of drama of course, but I was saddened to see her die just as she was beginning to find herself.

@soapwonder I think its BS that they are putting season six into 2 parts with how long they made us wait for it. I can understand it brings in more money but come on, a nearly 2 year wait for season 6 is ridiculous.

That's why seasons 2 through 5 were the best. After that, MP got boring. Realism and the constant cast changes killed the show.
