Hmm, I kinda know what you mean......
But what I'm interested in is this..
(Let's assume I'm using ableton with my 2 CDJS)
So I have 2 released tracks mixing on both CDJs, Just coming to the end of one track on cdj1, and bringing the other in on cdj 2... On cdj 1, I quite like the hi hats and bleeps etc, if I have time warped correctly, could I (in Ableton) chop out the rest and just keep looping the hi end such as hi hats and bleeps??

There's ways you could do it. You could just play the track in cdj 1 through ableton and have loops setup, or you could just loop the HH and bleeps with the loop buttons on the cdj. You wouldn't be able to loop the track on cdj 1 through ableton though.

not sure I understand how your friend beatmatch using his M-audio x session

Well after warping tracks in Ableton, they're essentially 'beatmatched' already. When he would play a song, he'd adjust the pitch and use the jog wheel accordingly for the track he was going to bring in.

I'm interested in this.... In what way are you using MIDI with the CDJ??? Are you just going back to back or miixing together??
I'm wanting to try use Ableton with my cdjs to take things a little deeper, but I'm lost!! Please let us know..

James is using his MIDI controller really only as a mixer. He has play/stop controls mapped, but most of the technical aspects are controlled with the mouse.
Mixing wise, we were mainly switching on and off, though in the middle of the mix two of James' songs were playing so he was still mixing a track out as I was mixing one in.
