@stewt93 If you want an unbiased portrait of Philip you should look up Philip II by Henry Kamen. It's a great book by an english Historian who teaches in Spain. Philip has been demonized by the anglo saxons historians and santified by the catholics. In England he is still seen as a catholic fanatic who lived sorrounder by papers. It's diminishing because his personality and his reign are much more interesting than that.

We study him at A level History in England, but they put such a negative slant on everything he does, with all these "Paper King" labels, making him seem quite a negative figure. Yet it's quite strange to see a lot of people praise him. I do love to see the effects of Government propaganda.

One of mine as well, he saw the zenith of Spanish power and in victory or defeat he was the model of what a monarch should be.
