actually, the same happened to Guo Jingjing... but the difference was, Guo Jingjing chose diving over anything else because she loved it too much. Tian Liang prefered the glamour and ease of the entertainment circle. So Guo Jingjing was the one who wore the gold medal in Beijing while Tian Liang was busy acting in some obscure TV series (okay, not obscure, it actually looks pretty good...but not as good as winning in the Olympics).
