In this video I call Homer (the tricolor JRT) before he starts mounting the little black dog--a new visitor. When I started fostering Homer he had a tendency to run away from people. He'd escape out of the house when he could and hoof it if he though someone was coming after him. It didn't take long to get a good come when called using rewards and by shaping the behavior. Yes you can get a good come when called on a JRT. But it really helps if you start them off right as a puppy--by never calling them unless you know that they will come and by rewarding them in a stepwise fashion for coming under more and more distracting situations.
