Is that Indicator originaly for Westinghouse?
-
OMG there was a floor 13
-
The floor indicator is an incandescent projection display here. There is a light bulb, a lens, and a small slide for each possible digit. In effect, it works as a small slide projector, projecting from behind onto a piece of ground glass.

34Th FLOORS! What so higher tower of the building to use it elevator!!! Amazing!

Awesome elevator! :D
Nice to see it in good condition for that kind of age. :D

strange, is'nt it???

No 4 but 13?
-
Yes, but OTIS didn't modernize them! I believe those are MAD fixtures. I guess the hotel wanted to update their image with new buttons in the cabs but was, fortunately, cheap enough to leave in the old Rotodial.

@ revo8778: The buttons might be modernized.

Why do they call that the dissapering indacatior?
ELTIGREROCKS10NEW 3 years ago
Because the numbers "disappear" while changing.

The floor number '4' is skipped, probably because it's a restricted level.
P.S. The Google ad panel here shows an ad about a special type of elevator which only the really wealthy have access to -- an inclinator. There's one, and only one, of such in Hong Kong. That's the 'Ten Thousand Buddha Monastery' on the hill next to Sha Tin Station. But I can't find a video of it, sorry.

Inclinators are rare in the US. A famous example is the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, which has inclinators made by Otis - v=qXguIgLqOHY
