At the 9 year old level, a wedge is difficult to hold together very long. You pick a point blocker which was our strongside guard. The remaining line falls inside toward him and pushes the outside of the blocker toward the point. The back simply falls into the V and bursts out when he finds a break. An easy way to stop the wedge, is to have the D line go low and take the legs out from under the wedge early. For the young kids, they stand up and simply cannot find the ball.

The Wedge really sets up the power 16 and reverse. You can hear the frustration among the coaches.
