  • I like it but fear the head and arm choke if against a strong opponent.

  • Preventing the choke is simple for 3 reasons:

    1. I reach my left arm across my face, strongly pressing against the back of his head. If his head is left straight, he is strong. If his head is pressed to the side, he is weak.

    2. My head is trapping his arm under my neck, strongly, limiting his ability to reposition in transition.

    3. The timing of the sweep doesn't have your arm across there for long before you roll him.

  • What would you do if the guy on top posted his left leg out to stop the roll?

This is an honest question - this is my goto move from side control but it only works on about half the guys I roll with, and sometimes Im just in North/South position.

  • That's a definite risk. His posted leg might kill this escape, but if you bridge hard, you might overcome it. Nothing is 100%, so be ready to fight hard for another escape if this fails.

  • do a barrel roll!

  • wait ... nevermind. now that i look at it again, that left leg doesnt look reachable!

  • i was thinking the same thing about the possibility of the posted left leg. why dont you grab the left leg? what can he do with the right leg to stop the sweep? it seems like grabbing the left leg would be the better option ...

  • This is money. Tried it today and worked on two out of three guys. The third guy was too big and strong. I didn't even get the finer points right but it worked like a charm.

  • shoul try this, i hate to escape from side control but this seems to work. thanks.

  • too much of a strong technique. useful to know though I guess

  • Heyyy I can use this! Thanks man!

Looks like flexibility in your obliques and core strength are really important here.

  • Do a barrel roll ! :D

  • damn, i just couldn't use this move to sweep those 220+ heavy guys

  • alot of body strength and core strength needed to perform this....hopefully you have more than your opponent or maybe he isnt expecting it
