This is Alana Grace singing Black Roses Red at Coachella 2010. She had an amazing performance, she was probably one of my top 4 bands I saw all weekend. I love the power and the lyrics.

I probably just should have shot the entire song, but part 2 is on a different video.

I also should have recorded the song Words Escape Me, that is probably my favorite song that she performs.

  • glad to hear that you went to Coachella, you picked a good year to go, this was my 5th Coachella and I thought this year was the best. The lineup this year from top to bottom was amazing. Hope you come back next year again...

  • This was the first time I heard this song. Great song. But I have to say she doesn't exactly have strong vocals. They were easily drowned out by the amazing performance of her traveling band. Still I'm preparing to buy some of her music. Just want to make sure she doesn't use Auto-Tune.

  • @falconwings1982 so you went to Coachella? I was a big fan of her performance, she was one of the bands I was most excited about. I bought "With One Word" album, and was impressed. After listening to it more, I think she sounds sort like a mix of Avril Lavigne and Evanescance. For her vocals, the sound a lot stronger on CD, on this recording her singing is drowned out some because that's usually what happens on camera recordings. In terms of auto tune, I'm not sure on that.

  • @gopher3737 I forget to answer comments on Youtube once in a while but I just caught yours. Hope you'll read it one year later :)... no matter what Alana Grace still has a place in my heart as being the first ever Coachella performer I saw live. The field was empty early on. As for crowds, do you remember how awful it was in terms of how many people there were in 2010? I remember walking into La Roux doing Bulletproff after Grizzly Bear. Crowds were bulging out of the tent!! Major clusterfuck!!

  • @falconwings1982 Yea, 2010 it was really packed. I went again in 2011, and it didn't seem as packed to me as it was in 2010. I've now been to Coachella 6 years in a row, 2010 was my favorite year of any of them. I'm going to the 2nd weekend of Coachella 2012, can't wait already!

  • @angelcupcakes13 It's always fun when you get a response to a comment you made on a video a year ago and you almost forget about the video. But now that I think about it you're right, it might have been some bad mixing by the sound engineer.

  • That being said, it's safe to say I have very strong and passionate views on Auto-Tune (obviously I'm against it). If she doesn't use it, I will definitely buy music.

  • As a matter of fact, I did go to Coachella, and I was actually at this set which I will always remember because it was my first ever live Coachella experience. There was almost no one cause it was so early. Don't get me wrong. I liked her performance and find her to be charming with good stage presence. She can definitely sing, but when I said she didn't have strong vocals, it was based on a live assessment. She sounds way better than those two acts you mentioned. This song stood out to me.
