I was there too. Three times. Everybody was excellent. I think that Fleming is better than Gheorghiu as Violetta.

Calleja has always sung with discipline, patience, and he's reaping the benefits with his continued success and his impressive longevity. He was one of the winners of Operalia 99, along with Villazon and Fillianoti. And where is Villazon now? Fillainoti is having difficulties as well. Calleja is the best tenor to appear since Bjiorling, or Pavarotti. He's one of the greatest.

@lexaling I'm just a medical student who does opera when I can. She came to Jackson, MS, and I auditioned to sing the part of Alfredo with her, along with three other guys at her performance here.

She did a performance in Jackson, MS, where I live, and myself and 3 other guys selected by audition got to sing this song with her on stage. We were a collective Alfredo, if you will.

Interesting! I don't know if it's the recording ambiance or what, but RF sounds better in the clip with Vargas, but he doesn't fare well in comparison to Calleja! (I'm an ardent Vargas fan, btw)
