  • I was doing about 9 knots. I found that anything over that and outriggers started to bury in the chop. In the end I was leaning diagonally out and to the back of the boat to keep the tips up. Brilliant fun!

  • Handled the winds fine - a fair amount of water over the bow at times.

  • I'm sorry but, if you think that's 30 knots (35mph) wind then, you need to re-evaluate where you are and maybe get closer to shore. The ripples don't indicate that wind speed, and also the lack of white caps, which would be there at 15 mph+, within 5 minutes. I would say 10 - 13...

    Been sailing hobies since 1970, also in 30 ft. swells offshore in 20 knot NE winds in '74. Tie yourself to the boat, wear PFD and bring a cell phone!
