Origin's Cybermage: Darklight Awakening. It's a DOS PC game from 1995. It plays mostly like a shooter. The premise is the popular dystopian future with omnipotent corporations controlling society and backed by corrupt government. The setting is a combo of cyberpunk and fantasy, a combination of magic and technology.
It was a game ahead of its time. This was the era of 2.5D shooters with simple environments. Cybermage attempts to flesh out a futuristic urban setting and does it pretty well. The city areas are rather impressive even today IMO. The game also provides quite a list of weapons/magic to play with.
The controls are unfortunately rather poor. No mouselook so the mouse is nearly useless. I think the easiest way to go is to play with the default setup using the numpad.
There's some annoying first person platform jumping that may be the worst aspect of the game when it comes up. And the level design can be rather obtuse at times. Still I think this game was a good attempt at innovating with the action-oriented first person shooter genre.
It's more advanced than both of those. It's kinda similar to Duke3D in level design. It has RPG elements like to System Shock too. It's definitely a bit unique in its own way.
