The real difference between old Helium and Mary Timony's current stuff is the quality of the vocals. In Helium, Mary would whisper/sing her vocals, and *really* use her vocals. In Mary Timony's solo work, she kind of talks everything and yells and I just don't like it nearly as well.
This was awesome to watch! I remember when I first heard Helium on Beavis and Butthead back in the day. Then, a few years later, I bought The Dirt Of Luck, and that album is one of my favorites to this day. You rock!
saw her in NC a few years back, she STILL plays this guitar. awesome.

This was a great time for the boston music scene, that early-mid 90's era.
I was a kid into heavy metal & guitar virtuosos, yet Mary's music really struck a chord with me.
There is no one quite like her, to this day.
