In Malaysia the issue of what language is used for teaching in schools has become a key issue for many political groups.

The country's ruling party, has said more subjects should be taught in Malay, the national language, but others argue that English should be used.

Al Jazeera's David Hawkins has more.

Ingat bersatu kita teguh bercerai kita runtuh.

  • Sudah-sudahlah dengan pertikaian BAHASA KEBANGSAAN ni. Guna sudahlah.

BAHASA MALAYSIA (MELAYU to be precise), is our NATIONAL LANGUAGE - Period. It is used officially in Malaysia.

We the multiracial SABAHANS and SARAWAKIANS have tolerated the use of this National Language so that we can properly communicate amongst us - even though BAHASA MALAYSIA IS NOT OUR NATIVE LANGUAGE.

  • @mynamefifi Kalau macam itulah jadinya, kami di Sabah dan Sarawak pun mahu bahasa ibunda kami dijadikan BAHASA KEBANGSAAN dan MESTI DIGUNAKAN OLEH SEMUA ORANG.

Let me remind you that we in Sabah and Sarawak are racially FAR MORE diverse than the people in the peninsular Malaysia.

If each of our race (Kadazan, Bajau, Iban, Melanau etc) wants to have our own language included as the NATIONAL LANGUAGE, then there will chaos as each of us will not want to use or learn "OTHER RACES'" language.

  • @RedPlumJam

    pembetulan

    *tak setuju*

  • @mynamefifi
