I remember watching this short, stocky little motherfucker play ball when I was a kid. He was such a great player and by far my favorite growing up, thanks for all the good memories!
As a kid I always pretended to be my favorite baseball player in my yard. Even though I became a catcher, that ball player was & always will be Kirby Puckett. The only time in my life I have every been star-struck was when I met Kirby, and he talked to me like I was his buddy. Make any comments you want, I got misty eyed during the Metrodome's greatest moments after its last game. I called my dad and he felt the same. To add to this video is that this is my dad's favorite song. Thanks ssaeugling
A great slide show showing moments of one of the greatest Twins and MLB players in history. Both a career and life that were tragically cut way too short. Kirby is sorely missed and will be forever remembered. I am lucky to say I got to see him play twice in the dome - pictures and videos don't do justice to how incredibly good he was - both as a player and a person. May the good Lord bless his soul - Rest in Peace, Kirby.
Thank you, that is good to know Kirby was respected around the country and league like that. It is equally sad that his career was cut short. I get shivers just thinking about how he carried the Twins in 87 and 91. He and Al Newman were so fun to watch.
