This is a 2.5 minute tribute I created about my mom and dad, Elsa and Lou Shapiro, Dad passed away in 1981, but mom got to see this on her computer. I'm putting this up on YouTube to show that you can tell compelling stories on YouTube without using a camcorder.
Originally created in 1999 using QuickTime Pro and AppleWorks. These days I would use OpenOffice Draw or Inkscape to create the graphics -- and record the audio using Audacity. (http://audacity.sourceforge.net)
Grateful thanks are owed to Hank Wallace for voice coaching on this project.
I have placed this video in the Nonprofits and Activism category on YouTube. Can you think of the reason why?

A truer word has never been spoken! I like the story teller parent turning the kids into story tellers

Very tender recounting of your parents attentiveness, intelligence and goodness. What I like about you including this on youtube is that it may provide pointers to parents, prospective parents, those who would like to help parents and those who need to work with children, what can they do to make their time with the children more meaningful, pleasurable, memorable, and how can they help in building essential coping skills.

What a wonderful image for the kind of mother so many wish they had had, but didn't. You truly are a lucky guy! Thanks so much for this wonderful story.
I did manage to record to my computer several hours of my step-mother's stories before she died. You inspire me to go and find those and put some of them up. Take care, Fred
