Pay day Street Singers Tsumeb.AVI

Workers generally are paid at the end of each calender month. Many groups sing in the streets to solicit "donations" in a carnival style atmosphere. Hunger is a problem (particularly in the days before pay-day). A volunteer organisation in Tsumeb collects unsold bread and fruit from the shops and takes it to the local school where students are fed. It was sad to see older people scrummaging through rubbish bins looking for scraps. When I saw this happening I generally bought them some bread (which was quite cheap)
