"Taran's Greatest Adventure" was Gordon Scott's fifth film as Tarzan. It was directed by John Guillermin in 1959 and also starred Sara Shane as Angie, Anthony Quayle as Slade, and Sean Connery as O'Bannion. This segment is an excerpt from the documentary, "The Many Faces of Tarzan" (1996).

  • Gordron Scott is handsome and great bod and good actor too.RIP Scott.

  • Besides Sean Connery, Niall McGinnis as the main meanie was in the cult classic movie Night of the Demon, directed by Jaques Tournier, who also directed classic Val Lewton movies like Cat People. McGinnis played an Aleister Crowley type character named Karswell.

Scott on the other hand was a former Marine, MP, I think a Korea vet, but not sure about WWII, expert at hand-to-hand combat and small arms fire, and taught these to recruits, a ranch hand, and was hotel pool lifeguard when discovered.

  • @ysbaddaden2003 I think he was also a high school physical education teacher in the U.S. before he made it in films. definitely one of the greatest athletes in American Tarzan movies or his Italian Hercules films

  • the fight was brtual!gordon scott wins out on strength and stamina!he rovers from his wounds!

  • Yep!!

  • I got the chance to see these films back in the late 1960's and early 1970's when Paramount presented these Gordon Scott films,re-released as part of Paramount's Family Matinee series that was shown in selected theatres. These Tarzan films starring Gordon Scott not to mention Mike Henry too, were shown as double features to bring in the kids as part of their Saturday and Sunday matinees.

  • Hi there I'm looking for a copy of this film, is it available on any format? It seems mad that we can access the trailer but not the movie. Thanks for putting it on you tube!

  • I have this on VHS...great movie!

  • Part of the problem with releasing this to video may be Gordon Scott was too good. He makes more recent Tarzans look anemic.

As we can see in the credits it was filmed in Eastman color, not Technicolor, and I've heard the former doesn't age well.

  • I'm getting this gem! Love Tarzan shooting the arrow at the guy and stabbing the croc!

Once again thanks pwgr2000 for sharing your Tarzan coll.
