  • The Carter Steel that I have is an 04/ D10, 9+8, Ped 0 position on the E9th neck is the Franklin changes. George L E66 on the E9th and a George L Eon on the C6th neck. Typical E9th tuning with the 7th raise rather than the 6 lower.

  • hi Tony, Is that a higher end carter?

  • This is a standard D10 Carter, 9+8. E9th PUP is an E66, C6th PUP is a George L EON. This is a great Steel, the best I have ever owned, action second to none.

  • Many thanks for the comments. The Pedal Steel does take more time to work out the physical kinks with playing, but the Music and the theory behind the Music is identical to a Guitar or Piano. As far as the two necks, they are two totally different tunings. The tuning used on this tune is the traditional E9th which is probably the most commonly heard on POP,Country and Rock. The back neck is a C6th tuning and is associated more to BIG fat chords and phrases used in JAZZ or Swing.

  • Pedal Steels can be a bit pricey. Student models can be had for around $500 and up, Used Pro Steels maybe $1200 and up..New single neck Steels over $2000, new double necks can go $3000 to over $5000. Don't let the prices run you off..theres plenty of nice Instruments on the market that are real nice and will hold there value. I play a PRO Carter double neck, they make a Starter single neck which sells new for around $700 in Musicians friend. Buy smart...

  • Playing Pedal Steel is no different than any other Instrument. Sure there are a few more kinks in the road, feet, knees etc..but if you put the time in, like on any Instrument, I think the rewards will come. I do think that the learning hump is a tad bigger than say a 6 string..just give it more time..
