why does everyone get so bent out of shpe about labels and categories? "because of HATE and RACISM comes from labels..." Yeah, that's because humans are fools! labels and categories help us communicate with each other more easily. and that's the main reason why they exist. I mean we all have labels that are parents give us..They're called names...try living without that label STING!

Popular music basically encompasses the music of the 21st century. Like Rock, Jazz, Country, Rap, Hip Hop, Electronic, everything.

the pop in "pop music" is just short for popular.
I don't consider it a category.

So why does Sting use the phrase "pop music" repeatedly in this interview? Isn't that a category?
wait...since when did mtv associate with real musicians? lol

There was a period in MTV history, namely from its inception to about 1995, when it was all about music, good, quality music. You could watch it from morning till evening, with excellent programs such as "Greatest Hits", "3-from-1", "Dial MTV", "Headbangers Ball", "Weekend" and many others. It was a pleasure to watch. But in mid 90-s it abandoned many good programs and opted more for reality shows, until it became all about crappy stupid reality shows, and nothing about music. Sad.
