CCR fue un grupo que logró fusionar con éxito el rock y el country, y que dominó la escena musical a fines de los 60. En 1969 John Fogerty, su lider, escribió una canción con acordes simples y letra sencilla, inspirada en uno de los tantos barcos a vapor (Proud Mary) que navegaban en New Orleans. Nunca imaginó que hasta el día de hoy, sería recordada como una de las mejores canciones de rock de todos los tiempos.
De su álbum Bayou Country, aquí les va "Proud Mary", la Orgullosa María o Mary la orgullosa, como quieran.
