@lonewolf0281 mate point is as good as the f111 is, its old, spare parts are thin and its geting to expensive to maintain.... the super hornet is a damn fine aircraft, you can not argue that, we already have alot of experience with the hornet airframe so its not going to be expencive in terms of money or retraining ground crew... in the end it all comes down to money.

@lonewolf0281 errr... actually just because the physical performance is not as good as the F-111 doesnt mean it cant be a good replacement. what many people tend to forget is that the super hornet has way better avionic than many military aircraft around the world including the F-111 its replacing and all the russian flanker, which has higher chance of winning in a battle.since the super hornet can detect the flankers much more earlier than the flankers and has higher chance of destroying it.

If the Super Hornet would have been a bit faster, maybe mach 2.0, then it would have been a good choice by the RAAF.

A shame the RAAF is replacing the mighty F-111 with this lousy aircraft. The Super Whorenet just doesnt seem up to the task. It is slower, has a shorter range and a smaller payload. Hardly an ideal replacement...
