Nov 5, 2000 hundreds of artists and musicians marched on San Francisco's City Hall in what was called the "Million Band March."

The rally and free concert was designed to promote Proposition L, an anti-development initiative. The event featured many local bands, including headliners Green Day.

San Francisco native Kirk Hammett of Metallica spoke at the event about how the city's arts scene is suffering in a rental market that has forced many artists and musicians out of their practice spaces.
