Love is Like Soup: Ch4- Soup Pt7

Kevin went straight to his room to talk with Nick. Nick had his head down as he sat on Kevin's bed; like a shunned five year old. "Nick, we need to talk." Kevin stated simply.

"Go ahead. Yell at me for driving your car." Nick stubbornly spoke.

Kevin sat beside Nick on his bed. Before replying, Kevin held his hand to Nicks shoulder to let him know to listen closely. "Nicholas, I don't care that it was my car that you took. I care that you were driving. You don't realize the dangers of driving. You're fourteen and have no driving experience."

"Joe was teaching me." Nick defended himself.

"And does Joe have his license?" Kevin asked. Nick shook his head and was about to argue back, but Kevin cut him off. "Nick grow up!" Nick was left speechless at his brothers harsh tone. "I know you know better than to try to defend yourself. Stop acting like a spoiled brat!"

Nicks lip started to quiver. "Kev..." Nick whimpered.

Kevin lowered his voice and continued on. "Nicky, you could have been seriously injured. You could have hurt Joe. You could have killed anyone. Driving is dangerous."

"Why would you care anyway? Ever since I got back, you've been mean to me. Its like you only care about Joe and hate me because you found out about us."

"Nicky! How could you possibly think I hate you?"

"You just called me a spoiled brat!" Nick stood up, off of Kevin's bed. He was about to leave Kevin's room, but stopped and turned around and said, "Go ahead and tell mom and dad and spoil my anniversary!" Tears welled in Nick's eyes.

Kevin stood and jumped in front of the door to stop Nick. "This is why I called you a brat." Kevin grabbed Nick's wrists and swatted his bottom. Nick let out a yelp. "I was just going to scold you for driving without a license and all you can think about is you!"

Nick wiggle, trying to escape Kevins grip, but got another swat instead. Nick dropped to the floor so he could avoid getting hit again. He started to sob. Kevin knelt beside him on the floor. "Leave me alone!"

"I'm not going to tell mom and dad." Kevin spoke softly. Nick seized crying for a moment to look up at Kevin. "I'm taking you and Joe with me to New Jersey tomorrow to my new house. I'm going to punish you guys myself."

"No, please Kevin!" Nick yelled to interrupt Kevin.

"Nick! Let me finish!" Kevin hushed Nick. "Then I'm going to let you and Joe stay there for the weekend. You guys can enjoy your anniversary together, without having to worry about mom and dad finding out."

"Really?" Nick asked softly.

"Yes, Nicky." Kevin smiled.

"Thanks, but can we skip the whole punishment thing? I learned my lesson."

"Ha. Go to bed, Nicky." Kevin got up and helped Nick off the floor. "Night."

Nick hugged Kevin briefly before heading off to bed. "Night, Kevin."
