For an alternative to our anti-democratic system check out Jim Rogers latest project to create a system that will hold politicians feet to the fire, and to put shackles on lobbyists so that they can no longer control the system. One day we might have a system that's controlled by the people and is for the people.

This is an idea put forth for Americans but it can easily work in any other part of the world.

Our countries today are far more mercantilist and corporatist than they were in the days of Adam Smith. The big players and markey in his day cant hold a candle to the kleptocrats of today. We live in a kleptocracy. A read of Adam Smith makes the markets of his day seem positively free and not manipulated.

But apart from the semantics of what a word means you have a point. The west arent even close to free of propaganda. Everything from inflation to news reports are manipulated.

As a Canadian, there is serious drive by the right wing to privatize the healthcare system. The 'debate' is still going, and Canada very well could lose out in the not too distant future.

Also pointing out the mild poverty in Cuba is not very effective if the United States has and still is imposing an embargo, effectively strangling the country, and impoverishing it. "Looks at these dirty people ... who we're keeping poor ..."

@DimmedDiamond Well the US should definitely lift its embargo on Cuba. Even Ron Paul says that. He says their embargo just allows for them to justify their poor existence and with it lifted theyd have no more excuses(its not like there was an embargo on the USSR in fact America gave them billions and they still collapsed, while inflating their currency).

Fact is American healthcare has massive government influence and socialism. A better example, perhaps the best is Singapore.

@PazGuerro What i wonder about Moore is how honest is he really? Is he oblivious to the fact that he made an entire movie attacking corporatism but he actually used the wrong name? Or is he willfully tricking people into thinking corporatism is capitalism? Does he have an agenda and does he see that agenda as a good thing? Or does he not care that hes peddling lies and is only in it for money and power?

Hes had plenty of people point out his strawman argument. So why hasnt he corrected it?

Lets take into account that the Cuban state will be showcasing their hospital. If we went to North Korea we would go to a showcase hospital or city lets say Pyongang. It is basic if you studie socialism, international studies or just have average or "common" sense.

Why is it that Moore had to get off topic and go talk about Britain and Canada. I think Moore has made millions on his movies that twist a lot of facts and he hides behind it. He calls himself a democrat who is "for the people", well, I want to see him give up most of his money so that he has to be middle class so he can give away his money to poor people. I bet he wouldn't. He knows that capitalism is what makes this country run.

We are so far away from the Capitalist society that Adam Smith wrote about. That is why we are not as great. Socialism pervades into every aspect of our lives now.

Try opening a small business these days. I did, and spent half of my time filling out forms and making sure I wasn't breaking some obscure law.
