D&G isn't a "cheaper branch" of Dolce and Gabanna.
It's a younger version. They target the young adults of the world. That's why the prices are slightly lower, not cuz they're after more people, but because the people they're after aren't old money so they can't as easily afford the regular Dolce and Gabanna clothing.
