I think sometimes Chigusa is a little upset with herself after she has beaten and abused a trainee or another girl at the training camp. You can see moments where her tough-bitch mask just slips a little, like when she said she doesn't have children or when she told Sato's Mum that she was proud when the neighbours told her the girls are polite. If she had been a little softer outside the ring with the girls, more of them might have stayed.

Chiggy's story reminded me of how cycles of abuse transfer from microcosm (family) to macrocosm (society). Apparently treating rookie wrestlers like abused children is partially what led to Joshi going down the shitter?

We have to reailise that the Japanese culture is very hierarchical and based upon humiliation. This is just another example.

@WatchVenusSpa Precisely! A tough job, but the idea is that all live to fight another day.

it's pretty much the old school dojo style of training. Similar to how they used to do it in England. I'm inclined to agree with what you say. Takeuchi in the end was physically tough enough but didn't really have the talent to be a big name.

must feel great after all that trouble.

I think somewhere along the line Chiggy-san forgot that wrestling is a work.

The hairdresser sure is a cutie!
I don't agree, there are excellent wrestlers that haven't been trained that way. I don't think that all the big names in wrestling had a father who beat them when they were younger.
