Hear, hear!
I support the troops as best I can.
I'm proud of my Canadian government for voting to keep the troops in Afghanistan until 2011.
Our retreat in 2009 has been postponed, I'm glad to say.

He does claim that his unit was a major part of Saddam's hunt and capture. That cannot be disputed. His unit was responsible for some of the most crucial intel and for bagging about 60% of Saddam's protecting network. They worked closely with the two Delta teams during the 6 month hunt and together they captured several deck of cards and key network individuals.
Why anyone would throw rocks at a man telling about our soldiers great work is hard to understand.

As with anything LTC Russell does, first class!

You might want to check your resoursces again. being in the same unit as LTC Russell, at the same time, he was by far the most devoted Soldier in the hunt for the 'Ace of Spades"! Im certain the nine Soldiers who paid the ultimate sacrifice during our tour would agree with me and clearly not your misguided self! Regulars by God!

This guy is a joke, I've read some of the articles that he has been a "Source" on and he is a complete joke. His latest contribution to Slate - Hunt for Saddam is a total fabrication. This guy is a glory hound who did nothing more than ride the coattails of his soldiers who actually did the work. I know a few soldiers who worked on the intel aspect of the Saddam capture, and they will all testify that Russell didn't know squat!

Excellent speech. So True! Thank you LTC Steve Russell.

Lt. Col. Russell is not misleading anybody. He has never claimed to be the guy that pulled Saddam out of the hole or the guy that led the raid. His unit was a major player in Saddam's hunt and was involved in the raid as a part of the brigade's cordon.

LTC Russell's battalion's AO did NOT include the area where Saddam was captured. LTC did not lead the raid, in fact, he wasn't even on the raid. He continues to mislead people about what he really did. I was there.
I read in the book "Killer Elite" that two Delta Force operators where the ones to open the rat hole to find saddam?

Curt,
You are correct that Delta walkd in first, LTC Russell's Battalion was overall responsible for the A/O and security.
Cordially,
