@imawakeish - Yes, but even NIST now says that that structural damage had little or nothing to do with the collapse.

@Ducksoup67 ~ WE are NOT talking WHAT caused the collapse, we are talking WHY did Chief Nigro, who had 23 years of experience as a professional fire fighter, fear a collapse of WTC 7 .... perhaps Nigro was gun shy after the collapse of the WTC that killed Chief Ganci and nearly killed him, but he had enough concern over the structural integrity of WTC 7 to order a pull back of his people and a collapse zone to be set up,
You are in NO postion to question his decision

@LOLCATS3111 - The damage from debris was nothing approaching a comparison of having a airliner slam into the building. Nice try, though. Even NIST in there final report discounts the causal influence of the "structural damage".

@LOLCATS3111 - Okay, why didn't NIST or FEMA interview this guy and anyone on his team that was giving him information on the building's state? I like how you focus in on the fact I said "knew" instead of "feared" as a way to deflect from what you know is the most important point here - NIST nor FEMA has any record of interviewing these people who predicted the collapse.

@Ducksoup67 ~ Although prior to that day high-rise structures had never collapsed, The collapse of WTC 1 & 2 showed that certain high-rise structures subjected to damage from impact and from fire will collapse. The collapse of WTC 1 damaged portions of the lower floors of WTC 7. WTC 7, we knew, was built on a small number of large columns providing an open Atrium. Numerous fires on many floors of WTC 7 burned without sufficient water supply to attack them - Dan Nigro Chief of Department FDNY

@Ducksoup67 ~ He NEVER said he "knew" it would collapse , he said he feared a collapse and as Chief of the Department it was his job to protect his people, especially after the collpase of WTC 1 & 2 that killed Chief Ganci and an unkown number of FDNY personal.

@LOLCATS3111 - Based on what evidence did he "fear" collapse? I ask because this had never happened before in history to a building of this type. It's important because the finest scientific minds in the world - NIST - took 6 years and still were not able to offer an explanation that stands up to even the most lax scientific standard.
And why didn't NIST just interview this chief? He "knew" it was going to collapse. So why not just ask him what evidence he used to determine this?
