A ride along the Irwell Valley from Bury to Rawtenstall on the East Lancs. Steam Railway which is run by volunteers. The engine on the day was the Duke of Gloucester, which also goes out onto Britain's main line on various excursions. A great day out. Afterwards we travelled by road to Skipton in Yorkshire.
On the train were schoolchildren on a Evacuee Experience - copying the war time evacuation of children away from the Blitz.
